At least once a week, we get a phone call asking if we can hack someone's cell phone to retrieve text messages or hack their social media accounts. The short answer to this is NO! Another misconception is that, just because you give someone a cell phone to use, it does not make you the phone owner. When you give someone a cell phone, as an example, then this is considered a gift. For us to analyze or extract data from a cell phone, we have to receive written consent from the owner of the phone, which is the person you gave the phone to as a gift.
